Ex-Cavs' player believes LeBron must not be blamed for Warriors' tombstone cookies
What's the story?
According to the Cleveland Cavaliers icon's former teammate, LeBron James is not to be blamed for trolling the Warriors at his Halloween party last year.
In case you didn't know...
James trolled the Golden State Warriors in his Halloween party, for losing the 2016 Finals after having a 3-1 lead, by having Dubs themed tombstone cookies and decorations.
The heart of the matter...
The Golden State Warriors suffered a humiliating loss at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals as the Cavs rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to win the championship.
But Dahntay Jones believes that it was the catering company that was responsible as he tells "I was at the Halloween party," on Friday on The Russillo Show on ESPN. "Usually, (LeBron's) trolls are funny, but that was not from him, that was from the catering company.
"That's why he doesn't speak of it because the catering company put that together. If you think that LeBron James throws a party and does everything from the cookies to the decorations, then you're kind of insane, that he has a season to prepare for and he's doing party planning as well. But that was the company that they hired. It just happened to be funny at that point in time."
Here are some of the decorations in question:
The Warriors, as expected, were not amused by the trolls and used this Halloween bash as motivation. They went on to defeat the Cavaliers in 5 games in the 2017 Finals, as the two teams met for the 3rd straight time in the Finals.
What's next?
Both Warriors and Cavs have moved on from that incident and are now focusing on coming out healthy through the grind of the regular season in an attempt to make a fourth consecutive Finals appearance.
Author's take...
Even if the troll was not intended by Lebron, it worked out pretty well for the Warriors and their fans as they took it personally and went onto get their revenge on their rivals.
