This year, the Dallas Mavericks don't have any rookies on their roster, after trading away second-round pick Ariel Hukporti to the New York Knicks after selecting him with the last pick of the draft.

Of course, as we've seen in years past, 2K continues to update player ratings throughout the year. For example, a player who starts the year as a low overall can see their rating bumped up by several points throughout the season if they continue to impress.

Dallas Mavericks 2024-25 season preview

Last year, the Dallas Mavericks had their best postseason stretch of the Luka Doncic era, making it all the way to the NBA Finals. In the first round, the team picked up a six-game series win over the LA Clippers.

It picked up a second-round win over the OKC Thunder in six games, before ousting the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference finals. After struggling the year before following the Kyrie Irving acquisition, the team made its first NBA Finals appearance of the Luka Doncic era.

Despite that, the team struggled to find its rhythm in the finals, falling to the Boston Celtics in a five-game series. In response, the team's front office set out to bolster its roster for the season ahead, acquiring Klay Thompson in a blockbuster deal that broke up the Warriors' big three.

Currently, the team sits in second-place on FanDuel's betting odds to win the Western Conference with +480 odds behind the OKC Thunder, who have +300 odds.

The Mavericks are ranked fourth in NBA Finals odds, with the Boston Celtics in first place with +300 odds, followed by the OKC Thunder with +700 odds.

We then have a three-way tie for third place with the Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks all sitting with +900 odds, followed by the Mavericks in fourth.
