Los Angeles Lakers Preview
What a time it is to be a Lakers fan! After years of mediocrity, the Lakers are once again back in the championship discussion as they sit firmly at the top of the Western Conference standings with a league-best 13-2 record.
They started their four-game road trip with a win in Oklahoma City and now travel to Memphis to take on the struggling Grizzlies.
Key Player - LeBron James
LeBron James is back in the playoffs picture once again after missing out for the first time in 14 years when the Los Angeles Lakers missed the playoffs last year. James, along with All-Star forward Anthony Davis, have been the cornerstone of the Lakers' success this year; the 'King' is making a strong case for MVP.
Earlier this week, James became the only player in the history of the NBA to record a triple-double against all 30 teams in the league. If he can carry the Lakers to the best record in a stacked West, there is no reason why he won't be awarded the MVP.
Lakers predicted lineup
Anthony Davis, Danny Green, LeBron James, JaVale McGee, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Memphis Grizzlies Preview
The Memphis Grizzlies have several exciting prospects who have the talent to become the face of this franchise. In the post-Conley era the Grizzlies are struggling to collect wins, which is understandable as the departure of players like Marc Gasol and Mike Conley Jr. left a void that is hard to fill.
After two straight losses they were quick to bounce back, winning three straight games, including two road wins. With a 5-9 record, the Grizzlies are trying for a playoffs spot in a conference where wins are hard to collect.
Key Player - Ja Morant
It is hard to believe that Ja Morant is a rookie, judging by the way he has been performing in his debut season. The 20-year-old is the Grizzlies' go-to player and has already had a game-winner this season.
Against the Hornets on the road, Morant drove through triple coverage and scored at the rim to snap their five-game losing streak against the Hornets. The rookie is averaging 18.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game this season, and is one of the front-runners for Rookie of the Year award.
Grizzlies predicted lineup
Jaren Jackson Jr., Ja Morant, Jonas Valanciunas, Jae Crowder, Dillon Brooks
Lakers vs Grizzlies match prediction
This is a complete mismatch where the Lakers, looking to extend their six-game winning streak, will enter as the overwhelming favorites.
When these two teams met earlier this season in October, the Lakers went on to blow out the Grizzlies by 29 points. Expect a similar result once again with LeBron James and Anthony Davis getting some rest at the end of three quarters.
The Grizzlies just don't have enough firepower to stop this Lakers team, and it will likely be a long night for the 'Grit and Grind' fans.
