Los Angeles Lakers Preview
The Los Angeles Lakers picked up win number 15 of the season on Monday thanks to a 114-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs, and Luke Walton's team show no signs of slowing down. While Anthony Davis put in arguably his worst performance in a Laker jersey so far, LeBron James contributed 33 points and 12 assists as LA pulled away from the struggling Spurs in the second half.
Despite missing Avery Bradley, the Lakers' defense remains among the top three in the NBA, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has stepped up over the past week following a tough start to the season.
Key Player - Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis will face a hostile reception on his first return to New Orleans, although the 26-year-old enters the game in excellent form. So far this season, Davis is averaging 25.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game - and the All-Star will be eager to impress on his return to New Orleans.
Lakers Predicted Lineup:
LeBron James, Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green
New Orleans Pelicans Preview
Following the injury to Zion Williamson, the Pelicans' season hasn't started out as planned, and the team faces an uphill battle to get back in the playoff mix. However, they have managed to win three of their past five games after starting the season with a 3-9 record, and they will be determined to make it an unhappy homecoming for Anthony Davis.
Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart will also be out to prove that the Lakers made a mistake by sending them to the Pelicans this summer, and don't be surprised if the trio put in their best performances of the season to date.
Key Player - Brandon Ingram
While Ball and Hart have yet to make much of an impact in New Orleans, Ingram has excelled. The 22-year-old is averaging 26.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game - and the small forward will be keen to punish his former team with another huge offensive performance.
Pelicans Predicted Lineup:
Brandon Ingram, Kenrich Williams, Jaxson Hayes, Jrue Holiday, JJ Redick
Lakers vs Pelicans Match Prediction
The Pelicans will be up for the game against the NBA's leaders, and the fans inside the Smoothie King Center will be fully behind their team as they look to spoil Davis' return. However, the Lakers should have enough quality to secure a ninth consecutive win.
