Luka Doncic stats that exemplify his all-around offensive game

Luka Doncic is in the midst of yet another great season. The three-time All-Star is averaging 32.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. He is shooting 49.4% from the field, 34.8% from three-point range, and 73.2% from the free-throw line.

Although he is in just his fifth season, Doncic is tenth on the all-time triple-doubles leaderboard. While triple-doubles are far more common in the modern game, as nine out of the 17 players with at least 30 triple-doubles are active players, Doncic's 52 triple-doubles have come in just 292 career games, which is the second-highest percentage in NBA history.

The Dallas Mavericks star has averaged 27.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. Doncic has shot 46.1% from the field, 33.8% from the three-point range and 73.7% from the field in his career.

While he still has plenty of time left in his career, if those numbers hold up, Doncic could become the first player in NBA history to average at least 27.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game.

Luka Doncic's stats in comparison to Dallas Mavericks' legend Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki is by far the greatest player in the Dallas Mavericks' history. The soon-to-be NBA Hall of Famer spent 21 years with the franchise leading the Mavericks to their only title in 2010-2011.

Nowitzki, named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. Additionally, he shot 47.1% from the field, 38.0% from the three-point range and 87.9% from the free-throw line throughout his career.

While Nowitzki did not put up the gaudy numbers that Luka Doncic has thus far in his career, advanced stats place his performance above his 2018-2019 teammate. The 2006-2007 NBA MVP posted at least 10.9 win shares in 12 of his 21 seasons, including a streak of 11 straight seasons, which began in his third season in the league. Doncic has yet to reach that total, but he is on pace to do so this season.

While the 2018-2019 Rookie of the Year has had a great start to his career, it is far too early to compare him to Dirk, who ranks sixth on the all-time scoring list. There is plenty of time for Doncic to surpass Nowitzki, however, as he looks poised to remain one of the top players of the next decade.
