The Memphis Grizzlies have a lovable mascot named Grizz. Grizz has become a fan favorite for his antics, pranks, acrobatics and dance moves over the years. He was introduced in 2004 when the Memphis Grizzlies team moved from Vancouver.

According to NBAmascots.com the Grizz is currently portrayed by John Rose. He has performed the role since 2013 and is a full-time employee of the Memphis Grizzlies. Before Rose, the Grizz was played by Eric McMohan. While Grizz’s exact salary is unknown, it is estimated that he earns around $50,000 per annum.


Grizz introduced his alter-ego Super Grizz to celebrate his 10th season in Memphis. Super Grizz dons a mask and a cape and is known for dunking on a mini-hoop, dancing with the cheerleaders and playing defence with the fans.
