Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz Prediction and Preview for 2024 NBA Summer League | July 8, 2024

The Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz tip off their Summer League campaigns after a difficult 2023/24 season where both teams failed to reach the playoffs. The Jazz finished 12th in the Western Conference with a 31-51 record but have added some top prospects in the draft.

The Grizzlies, who missed out on the playoffs last season for the first time since 2021, will also be looking to bounce back in 2024/25 after finishing with a 27-55 record.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz preview, prediction and rosters

After an entertaining first round of the games at the California Classic, the Summer League will now shift to Salt Lake City, Utah. The Grizzlies and Jazz game will take place at Delta Center and is set to begin at 9:00 p.m. EST. The game can be watched on ESPN and locally on KJZZ and grindcitymedia.com.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz preview

As is common in the Summer League, most of the big-name players will not feature, but the Utah Jazz possess one of the most loaded rosters of all 30 NBA teams. Keyonte George and Walker Kessler will be two of the big names to watch out for. George averaged 13 points per game over 75 total games last season and Kessler ranked third on the roster in rebounds with 7.5 per game.

The Jazz will also provide an opportunity to their talented rookie class, which features Cody Williams (No. 10 pick), Isaiah Collier (No. 29) and Kyle Filipowski (No. 32).

Fans of the Memphis Grizzlies will be disappointed to hear that two-time All-Star Ja Morant will not feature for the team. The Grizzlies will field several players from last year's team with GG Jackson II, Trey Jemison, Jake LaRavia and Scotty Pippen Jr. all on the roster.

Monday's game will also be an opportunity for the organization to see their rookies in action. Former Purdue star Zach Edey (No. 9 pick) will be the man to keep an eye on. The 7'4" center averaged 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2 assists per game in his final year in college. Jaylen Wells and Cam Spencer should also see some significant playing time at the Summer League.
