NBA fines Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade $5,000 for flop on San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili
Dwyane Wade was the latest recipient of a playoffs flopping fine by the league, the 5th flopping violation of the post-season. It comes up to about one in every 17.2 games. A review showed that he over exaggerated a foul contacted when San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili tried to steal the ball with a swipe of his hand.
In the regular season, the players who flop are only warned and fined. If they repeat the offense in the playoffs, there is an immediate fine.
For a player earning 19 million dollars this season, $5000 is not a large amount for Wade. It would definitely not stop players from doing it again, if it gives them an advantage when it comes to 2 free throws like it did to Wade in Game 2 of the Finals.
