Months after snubbing him for Paul George, Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan declares dad as the GOAT

Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan Anthony declared his dad as the "greatest of all time" in his Father's Day greeting for him. Kiyan shared a snap of the two on his Instagram story coupled with a caption that appeared to retract a previous statement that he made.

"happy fathers' day goat ❤️," Kiyan captioned.

In February, Kiyan was featured in a segment on COMPLEX along with his mom La La Anthony where they were asked about who their G.O.A.T basketball player was.

La La answered first and took the opportunity to put on a proud mama moment when she named her son.

“G.O.A.T. basketball player? Mine is this kid I know Kiyan Anthony,” La La said.

La La elaborated by referencing the difficulty she had while carrying him during the pregnancy, and how watching him play has made her so proud. However, Melo's son showed no bias when it was his turn to answer.

“My G.O.A.T. is Paul George," said Kiyan.

While justifying his pick, Kiyan seemed to stop short of saying that his father does not have an NBA championship title. However, that is also something that Paul George is yet to achieve.

Carmelo Anthony responds to his son Kiyan snubbing him for Paul George as the GOAT

In his podcast "7 PM in Brooklyn", Melo responded to his son snubbing him for Paul George as the G.O.A.T basketball player. He jokingly pointed out that he'd like to see if Kiyan could match his talk on the court in a one-on-one against him.

"I f*** with the fact that he puts me to the side and he don't put me in that category," Anthony said. "But f*** outta here cause you keep trying me. You about to be 17, you talking about going to college, I wanna see where you at."

When asked if he'll "Jake Shuttleworth" his son, a reference to the 1998 movie "He Got Game", Melo clarified that he will not do that. Instead, he will win the one-on-one matchup unlike what happened in the movie.

"But I ain't gonna Jake Shuttlesworth him. I ain't going to kick the ball over. I ain't gonna do that. I ain't gonna have momma talking about Jesus. You know what I'm saying?"

Melo may be an NBA legend to the rest of the world, but to his son, he's his dad—which may be the reason Kiyan previously chose to forego his dad as the G.O.A.T.
