NBA 2018/19: Stephen A. Smith says that James Harden is the best offensive player in the NBA

On today's edition of ESPN's 'First Take', Stephen A. Smith was asked to compare the Houston Rockets James Harden and the Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo. Both players have so far had standout seasons, and Harden and Antetokounmpo are currently among the favorites to take home the 2019 MVP award.

While Smith was full of praise for the 'Greek Freak', the ESPN analyst expressed his belief that James Harden was now the greatest offensive force in the NBA:

'The Greek Freak is something special, he is something to behold (but) I would take James Harden any day of the week, I wouldn't even think about it. James Harden is the greatest scorer in the game of basketball right now, it's just that simple, he's unstoppable'

Smith also went on to explain why Harden is the most deadly offensive force in the NBA right now:

'He's unstoppable in one on one, he shoots nearly forty percent from three-point range, his mid-range game is there, he's an 85 percent free throw shooter, and oh, by the way, he's averaging 11 three throws a game'

The 29-year-old guard is currently averaging 33.7 points, 8.7 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game, and Harden has almost single-handedly pulled the Houston Rockets back into playoff contention after the Rockets made a poor start to the season.

Harden is also the reigning Most Valuable Player, and if the Rockets man can maintain his form until April, then Harden could become the first player since Stephen Curry to win back-to-back MVP titles.
