NBA 2018-19: Top 3 Players at the Point Guard Position so far
Some of the quality point guards (currently active in the league) possess the ability to score or make the right pass down the stretch when it matters the most. They ride a fine line between coming out as a ball-hog and being an overly pass-first guard at all times during the ball game. The key to keeping the offense rotation intact is a reliable and skilled point guard, competent enough to direct traffic in ways best for the team at that point in time of the matchup.
The NBA is filled with adroit ball-handlers who can put their defenders in skates and finish strongly at the rim at regular intervals. However, what really matters, in the long run, is if they can get their teammates involved in a way that's efficient and productive at the same time.
The following list contains point guards who have stood the test of time this season so far, and are putting up comprehensive numbers for their respective teams. Let's head in and rank the three best players at the point guard position for the 2018-19 regular season as it has unfolded.
#3 Kemba Walker (Charlotte Hornets)
After winning the NCAA Championship back in 2011 and being drafted 9th overall the same year by Charlotte, Kemba has proved time and again, that size really doesn't matter if you're willing to give it your all.
He marked his third straight year with an All-Star berth, and is slated to play for Team Giannis as a starter in the coming All-Star weekend in front of his home crowd. The Hornets' marquee point guard is averaging a career-high 25.2 points along with 5.6 assists(also a career-high) across the 56 games he has started this season so far.
Kemba has dropped the 5th most three-pointers(187) this season and is shooting a near-career-high 44% from the field.
Highlight: Back in November, Walker recorded a career-best 60-point game against Philly, when he shot 61% from the field and made all his 12 free throws.
