NBA 2K Ratings Updated: Top 10 players with revised grades (Dec. 20)
Roughly two months into the 2024-25 season, a lot has already happened. To reflect this, NBA 2K has once again updated its players' grades.
The recently-concluded NBA Cup surely affected the ratings, with adjustments to several star players from teams that made a run. This list features not just perennial All-Stars but also role players and even a bench player.
The latest update was released by NBA 2K on its X/Twitter account on Friday.
Here is a look at the top 10 players with boosted rankings.
Top 10 players with revised grades (Dec. 20)
#1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (97 overall, +1 move)
At 97 overall, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander moves ahead as the player with the third-highest rating in the game. He is behind two former NBA MVPs, Nikola Jokic (98) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (98).
Gilgeous-Alexander guided the Oklahoma City Thunder to an NBA Cup Final appearance, averaging 30.6 points over the tournament despite a bad shooting night in Milwaukee. The Canadian is also named to the NBA Cup's All-Tournament team.
For the season, he is averaging 30.3 ppg, 6.3 apg and 5.5 rpg for the Thunder (20-5), who sits in first place in the Western Conference. OKC has won nine of its last 10 games.
#2. Trae Young (92 overall, +3 move)
Another member of the NBA Cup All-Tournament team, Trae Young, saw the biggest leap in this rankings update (+3). He led all players in assists (10.8) in NBA Cup games while averaging 24.2 points en route to a surprise semifinal appearance for the Atlanta Hawks. Young finished with 35 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds in the semifinal loss to the eventual NBA Cup champion Milwaukee Bucks.
For the season, the Atlanta Hawks star is averaging a career-best 12.1 apg to go along with his 21.5 ppg. Despite a 14-13 record, the Hawks are in a bit of a run, winning seven of their last 10 games.
#3. Domantas Sabonis (90 overall, +1 move)
With the latest movement, Domantas Sabonis has now reached a 90 rating in NBA 2K for the first time. The three-time NBA All-Star is currently averaging a career-best 21.5 ppg, 13.1 rpg, and 6.0 apg while shooting 62.6% and 43.3% from 3-point range.
In their most recent game, Sabonis put up 28 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and three steals as the Sacramento Kings lost to the Denver Nuggets, 129-130. Sabonis shot 12/20 from the field and 1/3 from the arc.
#4. Cade Cunningham (89 overall, +1 move)
Cade Cunningham's ranking once again increased by +1. In his fourth season with the Detroit Pistons, he is averaging career highs across the board: 23.5 ppg, 9.7 apg and 7.5 rpg while shooting 45.1%, and 38.6% from 3. The Pistons are currently in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference with an 11-16 record.
#5. Kristaps Porzingis (88 overall, +1 move)
Albeit seeing limited action this season due to injuries, Porzingis' rating increased by a point (+1). In seven games, the Latvian center is averaging 19.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg in 48% shooting and 34.1% from 3-point range for the defending champions Boston Celtics.
Known for his scoring throughout his career, Porzingis' defense has progressed, even earning praise from teammates. His defensive presence is key to Boston's title defense.
#6. Tyrese Haliburton (88 overall, +1 move)
Haliburton remains the focal point of the Indiana Pacers offense. Indiana sits at eight in the Eastern Conference with a 12-15 record. The Pacers are off to a slow start this season, but Haliburton has been playing better lately.
Over Indiana's last five games, Haliburton is averaging 20.4 ppg and 9.0 apg. He is on track to a third straight All-Star game appearance this season.
#7. Tyler Herro (87 overall, +1 move)
Herro has been the Miami Heat's starting guard for the past three seasons, this year he is averaging career bests in points (24.1), assists (4.8), steals (0.8), field goal percentage (47.6%) and 3-point percentage (41.3%).
#8. Mikal Bridges (85 overall, +1 move)
In his first season with the New York Knicks, Bridges has started all 26 games and is shooting 48.5% from the field and 33.9% from the 3-point line. He is averaging 17.0 ppg for the 16-10 Knicks, currently third in the Eastern Conference. NBA 2K has decided to increase Bridges' ratings in lieu of his steady performances.
#9. Payton Pritchard (83 overall, +1 move)
Another Celtic made the list, a key piece from the 2024 championship; Pritchard has increased his scoring to 16.5 ppg. He is making 3.9 3s a game on 8.9 attempts, good for 43.5% shooting off the bench. He is the early frontrunner for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
After a scorching start to the season, NBA 2K upped the rating of Pritchard from 82 to 83.
#10. Brandon Miller (83 overall, +1 move)
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft, Miller is averaging a steady 22.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 3.6 apg. In 22 games this season, Miller is shooting 40.6% from the field and 35.3% from beyond the arc as part of a revamped Charlotte Hornets offense under first-year coach Charles Lee.
