NBA 2K ratings updated: Top 10 players with revised grades (Nov. 7)
With the 2024-25 NBA season underway, NBA 2K has pushed out the first round of player overall updates. This is something that 2K has done over the years, adjusting player overall ratings throughout the course of the NBA season to keep the game as up-to-date as possible.
On Thursday, NBA 2K took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share the details of the first overall ratings update.
Top 10 rating change from the first NBA 2K25 player update
#1: Jayson Tatum (96 overall, +1 move)
After a hot start to the season that sees Jayson Tatum averaging the third-most points per game in the league with 30.2, NBA 2K upped Jayson Tatum's overall from a 95 to a 96.
Tatum's 30.2 ppg average is a career-high, along with his 48.3% field-goal percentage.
#2: Anthony Davis (96 overall, +2 move)
When NBA 2K25 launched, Anthony Davis was a 94 overall. Now, with Davis averaging a career-high 32.6 ppg along with 11.6 rpg and 1.6 spg, 2K decided to bump his overall up to a 96.
Davis is coming off back-to-back 35+ point games even though his individual play hasn't translated to team wins since LA's hot 3-0 start to the season.
#3: Kevin Durant (95 overall, +1 move)
This season, Kevin Durant is playing some of his best basketball since joining the Phoenix Suns. With Durant averaging his highest ppg average and rpg average since joining the Suns, 2K decided to bump his overall up from a 94 to a 95.
With the Suns currently sitting atop the Western Conference with a 7-1 record, alongside the OKC Thunder and Golden State Warriors, this year could be the Suns' chance for a deep playoff run.
#4: Anthony Edwards (94 overall, +1 move)
Anthony Edwards took his game to another level last season as he led the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference finals. Given that, NBA 2K made Edwards a 94 overall at launch. However, amid a stellar start to the season, they've decided to bump up his overall.
Currently, Edwards is averaging a career-high 27.3 ppg along with a career-high 45.0% from downtown, a massive jump from his 35.7% average from beyond the arc last year.
#5: Donovan Mitchell (93 overall, +1 move)
Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers are the only undefeated team in the NBA. With Mitchell averaging a career-high 48.5% from the floor and 39.4% from downtown, 2K decided to bump his overall rating from a 92 to a 93.
This is now the highest overall rating Donovan Mitchell has ever received in NBA 2K, surpassing his previous high of a 92 overall.
#6: Karl-Anthony Towns (89 overall, +1 move)
Karl-Anthony Towns is currently ranked third among the league's best rebounders this season with a 13.0 rpg average. In addition to his career-high rpg numbers, he's also averaging 23.1 ppg on a career-high 57.1% from downtown.
Given that, 2K bumped his overall up from an 88 overall to an 89 overall. Last year, Towns' NBA 2K rating dipped to an 85, however, with his current play, we could see his overall move back up into the 90s as the season progresses.
#7: Chet Holmgren (88 overall, +1 move)
Chet Holmgren and the OKC Thunder have been on fire this season. Currently, the team has the joint best record in the Western Conference, with Holmgren averaging a career-high 9.8 rpg, 2.9 blocks per game and 1.0 steals per game.
Given his individual play, and the team's success, 2K bumped him up from an 87 overall to an 88 overall.
#8: LaMelo Ball (88 overall, +1 move)
LaMelo Ball has been having a career year with the Charlotte Hornets after playing just 58 games over the last two seasons combined. While he didn't spend much time on the floor heading into this season, Ball is currently averaging a career-high 28.1 ppg on a career-best 46.2% from the field and 39.4% from downtown.
With that, his NBA 2K rating climbed from an 87 overall to an 88 overall. If Ball is able to stay healthy, look for his overall to improve again in further updates.
#9: Darius Garland (86 overall, +4 move)
One of the biggest movers in the first NBA 2K25 ratings update was Darius Garland, who went from an 82 overall to an 86 overall thanks to his stellar play. Garland's efficiency throughout the first nine games of the season has been instrumental in the team's success, and he's shown no signs of slowing down.
His 2K overall rating has been bumped up to an 86 overall as part of the first ratings update
#10: Gradey Dick (82 overall, +6 move)
The biggest mover of the first NBA 2K25 ratings update, Gradey Dick has gone from a 76 overall to an 82 overall amid a spectacular start to the season for the young guard. After averaging 8.5 ppg his rookie year, Dick is now averaging 20.0 ppg while improving from 42.5% from the floor to 46.1% this year.
Given the massive jump, don't expect Dick's overall to be bumped up by another +6 rating points during the next update.
