Over the years, we have seen players in the NBA who have such all-around capabilities that they are able to impact the game from all the aspects. A triple-double is achieved when a player is able to finish with double digits in any three of the given categories - points, assists, rebounds, steals or blocks.

We see players with great all-around abilities like LeBron James who flirt with triple-doubles on a regular basis. Russell Westbrook has made a mockery of this glamorous stat line. He has averaged triple-doubles for three consecutive seasons. James Harden has recorded triple-doubles despite scoring 50+ points in matches.

These players contribute so much to their team that they regularly end up with triple-doubles in matches. However, ending with a triple-double in a match is not at all easy. This is one of the toughest stat lines for a player to get.

Alvan Adams was drafted as the number four overall pick in the 1975-76 season by the Phoenix Suns. He won the Rookie of the Year and recorded five triple-doubles during his rookie season.

Adams played in 988 games in his NBA career. He was an undersized center at 6'9". He finished with career averages of 14.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per match. Adams was selected for the All-Star team on one occasion.

Adams was a terrific all-around player. He had averages of 19 points, 9.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in his rookie season. Adams played for 13 seasons in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns and finally retired post the 1987-88 season.
