NBA Summer League: Results from Day 3; Sim Bhullar makes first appearance for Sacramento Kings
The Samsung NBA Summer League went into it’s third day of action with various stars like James Harden (Houston Rockets), Reggie Jackson (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Damian Lillard (Portland Trailblazers) making an appearance courtside in support of their respective Summer League teams.
Here’s how the match board looked for Day 3:
Cleveland Cavaliers vs San Antonio Spurs
In the first match of the day, No. 1 overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft Andrew Wiggins led his Cleveland Cavaliers to a second consecutive victory in the competition after a win over the San Antonio Spurs 82-70. While Wiggins was the attraction in the arena, it was last year’s number one overall pick Anthony Benett that was most productive with his double-double effort of 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Los Angeles Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans (New Orleans won 90-73)
The Lakers highest pick in recent years, their 7th overall pick in this year’s Draft Julius Randle debuted in the Las Vegas competition for the purple and gold franchise. At the end of the day neither did the Lakers win the game nor did Randle impress with his effort of 10 points and 2 rebounds.
NBA D-League Selects vs Atlanta Hawks
As the name suggest it was a contest between the Summer League team of Pro league franchise against a few chose D-League Selects, but nobody expected this match to head into overtime let alone double overtime. Finally, the D-League selects finished out on top with 94-92.
Chicago Bulls vs Denver Nuggets (Chicago won 103-76)
Portland Trailblazers vs Houston Rockets (Portland won 75-67)
Sacramento Kings vs Charlotte Hornets
The Kings won this contest 72-65 quite easily, but there was a added bonus for the Indian fans waiting to see the progress of Sim Bhullar, a player of Indian descent. Although Bhullar did not impact the result of the game in 3 minutes of court time, it is certainly an upgrade from not playing in the first game. Bhullar recorded just the lone block in his time on the court.
Milwaukee Bucks vs Phoenix Suns (Phoenix won 93-82)
Jabari Parker, the number 2 overall pick in the 2014 Draft produced a phenomenally productive game for the second time in a row, but his team fell short. Parker had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. After the two games so far, Parker has been more instrumental and productive than Wiggins.
Washington Wizards vs Minnesota Timberwolves (Washington won 67-61)
