NBA Superstar Russell Westbrook ties knot with his college sweetheart
Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook wed his college sweetheart Nina Earl, whom he met when both of them were playing college basketball at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The wedding ceremony was a star-studded event that took place in the Beverley Hill.
After the ceremony, a very happy Westbrook took to Twitter to post this photo:

According to reports, Thunder teammates Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka were in attendance along with Westbrook’s college teammate Kevin Love and ex-Thunder teammate James Harden (with Khloe Kardashian in tow). The lovely couple danced their first song to Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo’s classic slow jam “Nothing Else Matters”.
Although the Thunder didn’t make it to the NBA Playoffs, personally the year just got better for Westbrook. He is the reigning NBA Scoring Champion and NBA All-Star Game MVP, and had a ridiculous stretch of 12 games last season where he recorded 7 triple doubles. He finished the season with 11 triple doubles including four consecutive which was drawing comparisons to the 10 triple doubles in 11 games that Michael Jordan recorded back in the 1988-89 season.
With Kevin Durant out with a foot injury in January, Westbrook took the responsibility upon himself to take the Thunder to the Playoffs. As he played more and more games, stats wise he started turning into a monster. Over the months of February and March, Westbrook averaged 31.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 8.7 assists (that’s nearly a triple double over two months). Now that Durant is confirmed to be back for the upcoming season straight from training camp, Westbrook would be relieved of the load that he was carrying for most of last season.
Note: This could be the last season we see the explosive duo of Westbrook and Durant together.
Nonetheless, it’s safe to say that Westbrook’s not going to stress himself over the next NBA season, or at least for the next couple of weeks, having just capped off an amazing wedding over the weekend. We wish the newlyweds Russell and Nina, a long, happy and successful marriage.
