NBA Trade Deadline: Which 5 teams can win the 2022-23 title after roster shakeups?

The 2023 NBA trade deadline has passed. There have been many roster moves right before the buzzer, with several teams drastically improving through trades.

What makes this period so special is the fact that some of the league's best players have been moved recently. The Brooklyn Nets traded both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, while many teams have also traded a number of second-round picks.

Some teams have gotten worse with their moves, but some have become contenders. Here are the five teams that can win the 2022-23 championship after making moves at the NBA trade deadline.

These five teams improved with the 2023 NBA trade deadline and could win a championship

#1, Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns acquired Kevin Durant, one of the best scorers in the entire league. They did it by losing only Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson, which is why they are now serious contenders for the title.

#2, Dallas Mavericks

On paper, the Dallas Mavericks drastically improved before the NBA trade deadline. In reality, we will have to see how their union with Kyrie Irving works out.

Luka Doncic has finally received help as Irving is one of the best guards in the league. Despite being controversial and mecurial, the former NBA champion could lead the Mavs to the NBA Finals and possibly their first title since 2011.

#3, LA Clippers

The LA Clippers have a great roster that features Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, two exceptional players. However, just before the 2023 NBA trade deadline passed, they acquired a few role players who could help them win it all.

The Clippers acquired Eric Gordon, Bones Hyland and Mason Plumlee. Their success will mostly depend on Leonard's health, but if he can stay healthy, they can go deep in the playoffs.

#4, LA Lakers

The 2023 NBA tradeline was great for the other team from Los Angeles as well. Rob Pelinka finally got rid of Russell Westbrook while also getting several valuable pieces in return.

The Lakers acquired D'Angelo Russell, Mo Bamba, Malik Beasley, Davon Reed and Jarred Vanderbilt. They also traded for Rui Hachimura late last month.

LeBron James and his squad are still out of the playoff picture for now, but if they can get to the postseason, they will be a serious threat to everyone else.

#5, Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets (38-17) have the best record in the Western Conference and could have a deep playoff run. While they didn't make huge moves before the deadline, they are among the favorites to make it out of the West.
