NBA Trade Rumors Roundup January 13th: Anthony Davis not joining Lakers, major Warriors news and more
We have now passed the halfway point of the 2018/19 NBA season, and teams are starting to get a good idea about where they currently stand. Up until this point, both Conferences have remained competitive, with eleven teams in playoff contention in the Eastern Conference, whereas every team except the Phoenix Suns has a shot in the West.
The February trade deadline is also quickly approaching, as the NBA has made changes to the deadline so that it will now always occur 10 days before the All-Star game. This has been done so that players who get traded have time to settle into their new teams, and this year's trade window will close on February 7th.
So with the deadline just a month away, here are the biggest trade rumours you need to know for January 13th.
#3 Klay Thompson could be staying with the Warriors
Klay Thompson has long been linked with a move away from the Golden State Warriors, and Thompson will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer. The longtime Warriors man will soon turn 29, and while some believe that it is time for Thompson to lead his own team, The Athletic has reported about Thompson's desire to stay with his current franchise:
Thompson has indicated an interest in remaining a "Warrior for life," his return cannot just be taken for granted. Still, the expectation within and outside the Warriors is that Klay isn't leaving. This is why you don't hear about any team besides the Lakers gearing up for the Summer of Klay.
Thompson has won three Championships with the Golden State Warriors and has notably formed part of the 'Splash Brothers' with teammate Steph Curry. Thompson is, this season, averaging 21.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
