$1 Billion worth LeBron James and other NBA superstars reportedly stay 1 hr away from 2024 Olympics to increase privacy

The USA men's and women's national basketball teams are in Paris to participate in the 2024 Olympics. The prestigious international sporting event will host the gold medal basketball game in Paris, while games for other stages will be held in Lille.

The US basketball stars, including NBA players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry, as well as WNBA player A'ja Wilson, have reserved a luxury hotel in the heart of Paris.

Journalist Ben Golliver provided insight into the decision for the basketball stars to stay in Paris for the entire Olympics, citing security and privacy concerns. This choice was made despite Lille being a closer destination to the group-stage games.

The $1 billion-worth (via Forbes) LeBron James & Co. will travel to Lille before their three group-stage games, just like they do on the road. A special train will accompany them to their destination, which is around an hour away, ahead of their group stage games against Serbia, South Sudan and Puerto Rico.

The team will arrive a day earlier before their game and then depart for Paris once the game is completed. The group-stage matches for basketball in the 2024 Olympics will be held at Pierre Mauroy Stadium, a converted soccer facility in Villeneuve-D’Ascq that can house up to 27,000 people at a time.
