$160M worth Lakers super fan Flea reminisces Danny Green's Lakers days as 3x NBA champ hangs up his sneakers
Three-time champion Danny Green has called it quits after playing 15 seasons in the NBA. Green posted a message for his followers on Instagram and also addressed his decision to retire from basketball with a video. His former teammates and competitors congratulated him and even a legendary musician left a comment on his post.
Red Hot Chili Peppers' legendary bass player Flea is a super fan of the LA Lakers. The musician, who has garnered a significant amount of awards over the years, has held season tickets since 1997. Legally known as Michael Peter Balzary, the music icon even performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" with his bass in 2016 before Kobe Bryant's final game of his career.
Flea, a celebrity who has amassed at least $160 million in his career (via Celebrity Net Worth), left a message on Green's post. He reminisced about the former player's stint with the Lakers, which resulted in the franchise winning a championship.
"Loved your game and all the good vibes! Thank you Danny. Was so happy when you were a Laker," Flea commented.
Take a look at Green's retirement post below.
"It’s been one helluva ride…onto the next chapter. Thank you!" Green posted.
Flea has been a fan of the Lakers all his life. In April, he talked about how his mom took him to a game in Los Angeles back in 1975 at The Forum, according to his interview with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson. Then, he watched Kareem Abdul-Jabbar lead the team.
His love for the team was evident even at the start of their music career as a band. Flea mentioned that music executive Mo Austin would give them (RHCP) courtside tickets to Lakers games. According to the bass player, that was the first time he'd gotten to watch Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson up close.

How was Danny Green's stint with the Lakers?
Danny Green left a lasting impact on the Lakers during his one-year stint with the team. Green joined the Purple & Gold back in 2019, following his one-year stint with the Toronto Raptors, where he won a title with Kawhi Leonard.
Green was a fixture in the starting lineup and appeared in 68 games. The former North Carolina standout put up 8.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. He wasn't an efficient shooter during his time in Los Angeles, as he only made 36.7% from downtown.
Still, he became a valuable player for the Lakers' postseason run. He maintained his production despite struggling to be an efficient shooter from long range. Green helped LeBron James capture his fourth NBA championship and Anthony Davis his first.
Green finished his career with three titles with three different franchises. He solidified his name as one of the best role players in the league.
