2023-24 Celtics NBA championship rings: Design and more details
The 2023-24 Boston Celtics have been immortalized after raising their 18th championship banner ahead of their game against the New York Knicks. Each player also received a championship ring to commemorate the hard work they put in during their title run.
The Celtics finally won a title for the first time since 2008. After several seasons of coming up short, the Boston team overcame the odds and broke their title drought.
The designer for this year's title rings is Jason Arasheben. He started making championship rings in 2009 when he designed the LA Lakers' title rings.
The number of diamonds represents specific details about the team. For instance, there are 16 emerald-cut diamonds in the inner bezel to represent the team's total playoff wins in 2024. Meanwhile, the outer bezel has 18 emerald-cut diamonds to represent the franchise's 18 titles.
There are also 80 white diamonds in the "champions" to signify the 80 regular-season and playoff wins during the championship run.
The rings also feature the years in which the organization received the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Each player's nameplate and matching ring were part of the design.
Like most modern championship rings, the Celtics' version has a removable top. As the top is removed, the final score of their Game 5 win against the Dallas Mavericks that sealed the title was incorporated into the design. The inside of the ring features the championship banner and the jersey number of each player included in the team.
The rings were handed to the players before they started the new campaign against their Eastern Conference rival, the New York Knicks.

Jayson Tatum is motivated to lead the Celtics to another championship this season
With their championship group intact, there's a good chance that the Celtics could become the first repeat champions since the Warriors in 2017-18.
After receiving their title rings, Jayson Tatum took the chance to send a message to the fans.
First, he thanked their supporters for the energy they brought last year and credited them for helping the team win. Lastly, he energized The Garden as he sent a message, encouraging the team and fans to win another championship.
"This is special," Tatum said. "On behalf of me, my teammates, the organization, we couldn't have did it without you last year. Let's enjoy this moment together. I can honestly say, to the best fans in the world, let's do it again."
The team's quest for Banner 19 began tonight, as they defend their homecourt against New York.
