"2028 gold medals coming to Enemies" - Ex-NBA champ appeals Ice Cube for Big3 team’s spot in LA Olympics
Former NBA star Nick Young wants to have the chance to compete for a gold medal in the 2028 LA Olympics, so he is pleading to be part of the next Summer Games.
Not only do the 2024 Paris Olympics feature 5x5 basketball teams but they will also showcase 3x3 basketball. For this reason, Young wants to be involved in the event at next Olympics.
The former Washington Wizards guard has been coaching for Ice Cube's 3x3 basketball league since he called it quits in the NBA. Young is the head coach for the team Enemies for the Big3. Right now, he's coaching the top team in the league with a perfect 6-0 record.
With the current record, Young feels confident about letting his team have a different challenge. He believes that his Big3 team is good enough to represent the USA in the 2028 Olympics and win the gold medal. He posted on X (formerly Twitter) about his desire to coach his team in the tournament.
"My @thebig3 team should be playing in Paris this summer we got the best resume .. dnt trip 2028 gold medals coming to the Enemies @icecube," Young posted.
Ever since Team USA's 3x3 team joined the tournament, it has not had a chance to compete for gold. Unlike their 5x5 roster, they haven't been dominant in playing against other countries.
For this year, the team is composed of Jimmer Fredette, Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox and Dylan Travis.

Has Nick Young played in the Olympics?
Suiting up for the country and representing it by playing the sport one's good at is one of the greatest privileges. In the history of basketball, only a few have had the chance to be part of Team USA and take on other countries.
Looking at the players who have been part of the USA basketball program, it's surprising that Nick Young isn't one of them.
Young never represented the country in any tournament overseas, not even in the FIBA World Cup games. During his time, the one-time NBA champion was among the best offensive players in the game. In his early days with Washington, he was advertised as one of the top rising stars.
However, other great players emerged at that time, which overshadowed his on-court talents. This is why Young is pleading to get himself and his team involved in the next iteration of the international tournament in 2028, but only this time, as a coach.
