3 revenge games to look out for in 2024 NBA schedule ft. Klay Thompson's return to Warriors
The NBA recently unveiled the NBA schedule for the 2024-25 season, giving fans plenty to talk about in anticipation for the season ahead. After the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, the team will be entering this season looking to go back-to-back. At the same time, we will see budding contenders look to cement their place as true title contenders.
In addition, teams who failed to make waves last season such as the Washington Wizards and the Charlotte Hornets will look to shake things up this year and make their presence felt throughout the 82-game season.
While anticipation is at an all-time high as fans break down the NBA schedule for the season ahead, several games jump out on the calendar given the storylines behind them.
Three revenge games to look out for on the 2024-25 NBA schedule
#1: Klay Thompson returns to Golden State - Nov. 12
After 13 seasons and four championships in Golden State, Klay Thompson left fans stunned as he and the Warriors parted ways this offseason. Following a roller-coaster of a season that saw Golden State miss the playoffs, Thompson signed a three-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks this summer.
Per the 2024-25 NBA schedule, on Nov. 12 Thompson will return to the Bay Area to play Golden State at the Chase Center in a highly anticipated game all but guaranteed to produce fireworks. Of course, given that it will be his first game back, despite the tension, Thompson is expected to get a tribute video.
#2: NBA Finals rematch - Jan. 25
On Jan. 25, the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks will compete in a rematch of last year's NBA Finals. The game is set to take place at American Airlines Center in Dallas, which has proven to be one of the loudest venues in the league time and time again.
After coming up short in the finals, the Mavericks are eager to prove the doubters wrong this season and return to postseason contention with additional firepower in their starting lineup thanks to the acquisition of Klay Thompson. On the flip side, Boston is eager to go back-to-back after retaining their core roster.
#3: Paul George returns to LA - Nov. 6
After failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension, Paul George and the LA Clippers parted ways this summer, with George joining Joel Embiid in Philadelphia. Per the NBA schedule, on Nov. 6, George will return to LA with the 76ers to face off with the Clippers in a highly anticipated showdown.
The game will have added attention thanks to the opening of the all-new Intuit Dome, which boasts some incredible never-before-seen technology and features that have left the NBA community in awe.
