$350 Million worth Alex Rodriguez spotted courtside at Minnesota Timberwolves game despite failed acquisition

Alex Rodriguez is at courtside to cheer for the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Denver Nuggets in Game 6 on Thursday. The former MLB superstar joined the thousands who egged on the home team to stay alive in the series versus the defending champs. “A-Rod” was spotted passionately urging the crowd to keep up the noise level to support the Wolves.

Rodriguez is one of a handful of former baseball players who have carried over their success on the diamond to the business world. He earned roughly $475 million during his years with the Seattle Mariners (1994-2000), Texas Rangers (2001-2003) and finally the New York Yankees (2004-20013, 2015–2016).

The three-time AL MVP was also one of the most sought-after endorsers during his time in baseball. He eventually became a savvy businessman who is reportedly worth $350 million, per Celebrity Net Worth.

Alex Rodriguez, years after retiring, built A-Rod Corp, the hub of his business that deals with various ventures such as real estate and construction. The former Yankees third baseman formed a partnership with billionaire Marc Lore to buy majority ownership of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After completing the purchase of 40% of the franchise, making them minority owners, the other 40% acquisition did not go through. The Rodriguez-Lore partnership and Glen Taylor have traded accusations regarding the failed transaction.

Despite that, Alex Rodriguez remains a staple in games and consistently hypes up the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise and players on social media.

Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore will not quit fighting to own majority ownership of the Timberwolves

Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore had a deal with Glen Taylor to purchase 80% of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx three years ago. During that span, they will buy the team in installments of 20%, 20%, and then 40% in March 2024 for roughly $1.5 billion.

While the first two payments went to the books without any fuss, the remaining 40% became the crux of the dispute between the parties. “A-Rod” and Lore reportedly struggled to hit deadlines for both money and documents, prompting Taylor to end the process.

Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore have insisted that they followed the process right until Taylor decided to cancel the remaining 40% deal. Rodriguez had this to say to Jon Krawczynski about what this means going forward:

"It is now personal. We can be in this for five years, 10 years, whatever. We’re not going to let go."

Lore is just as determined to see through the process and force Glen Taylor to go back to the table. While the off-court drama is brewing, the Minnesota Timberwolves are fighting for their lives against the Denver Nuggets. “A-Rod” is doing his best to show he is there for his team.
