"3x Off-season Training MVP" - NBA fans troll Ben Simmons for shooting threes in practice despite lingering injury concerns

Brooklyn Nets guard-forward Ben Simmons is back in the lab, showing off his workout process, and fans had a few things to say about it. Simmons was limited to 15 games last season because of a lower back injury. With his new workout video, the Australian star seems motivated to return to his All-Star form next season.

Fans have been waiting for Simmons to return to being a star after he was traded by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022. Since his playoff fumble in 2021, the 6-foot-10 guard has not been the same player. He's posted career lows for the past two seasons and his injuries have also piled up.

Now, he's teasing fans with another workout video. He worked out with NBA skills coach Chris Brickley, as he shot long-range shots in his recent workout. Watch the video below to see Simmons in his training.

However, fans weren't excited with what they saw. Here are some of what they had to say.

"3x Off-season Training MVP," one fan said.
"September Simmons is here…" another fan said.
"He will do all this! then once season starts, he won’t play a single game talk’N bout load management 🥴," a fan predicted how Simmons' season will play out.

Other fans criticized how Simmons shot the ball.

"At this point, gotta start from scratch and just shoot with your right hand…," one fan said.
"Why are we seeing jumpshots he will not take in a real game," another fan was curious.
"An average player at LA fitness can do those drills with more pace and a smoother looking jumpshot," another fan even compared Simmons to an average basketball player.

Ben Simmons is healthy, according to Brickley

There have been a few fans who have lost interest in Ben Simmons over the seasons. Each offseason, he'd post a workout video but would only be limited to a few games once the season starts. However, his trainer, Chris Brickley, is advertising the player as ready and healthy for the next season.

"@bensimmons is back to playing All Star talent level basketball. Big season loading……" Brickley posted on Instagram.

Last season, he posted 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists. Simmons averaged the fewest points in his career during the 2023-24 season. The same could be said for his assists, as he didn't get to play much because of his back injury.
