4x Grammy winner Killer Mike issues graceful response to Jayson Tatum's missed chance
Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics were on the road to face the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. The Celtics star missed the opportunity to greet four-time Grammy winner Killer Mike who was in attendance.
Tatum tweeted on his X account, formerly Twitter:
"Killer Mike was court-side tonight and I didn’t go say what’s up. I’m sick 🤦🏽"
Despite failing to meet the legendary rapper, Killer Mike saw Tatum's post and responded gracefully.
"It's all love," Killer Mike replied. "U kicked butt tonight I was sick with "damn why we had to lose blues". Hope to properly meet and greet in the future. Love and Respect Bro."
The rapper is an Atlanta, Georgie native and was in attendance to support the Atlanta Hawks. However, it appears that he doesn't mind cheering for NBA players outside of his team as he showed Jayson Tatum respect on social media.
Celtics vs Hawks recap: Jayson Tatum wreaked havoc in Atlanta
Despite being the visiting team, the Celtics dominated the Hawks with a 123-93 outcome. The defending champions accomplished a huge victory despite not having Jaylen Brown in their lineup due to a left hip strain.
Jayson Tatum, as usual, took over for the Celtics and nearly put up a double-double performance. Tatum added 28 points, nine assists, six rebounds and two steals. The other Celtics player to hit 20 points or more was Tatum's fellow gold medalist Derrick White. White stepped up to fill in Brown's shoes by adding 21 points, six assists, six rebounds, two steals, and one block.
Aside from Tatum and White, four other Celtics players were in double-scoring figures to help destroy the Hawks on Monday. These were namely Payton Pritchard (18 points), Jrue Holiday (16 points), Neemias Queta (10 points), and Sam Hauser (10 points).
Trae Young surprisingly had a terrible night going up against Boston. He only scored two points and only made one out of 10 shot attempts. Despite playing 23 minutes on the floor, it was an off-night for the Hawks star.
Trying to keep the Hawks alive on Monday was Jalen Johnson, who put up a double-double performance. Johnson added 20 points and 11 rebounds. However, we can't really say that his performance was remarkable either. The Hawks forward shot 28.6% from beyond the arc and 35% overall.
