5x NBA champ Ron Harper's son sums up Dylan Harper's late heroics in 2 words
After only 11 games with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Dylan Harper has already established himself as one of the nation's top college players. The 18-year-old guard was outstanding against the Seton Hall Pirates on Saturday, drilling a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to give his team a 66-63 win and send the home crowd into a frenzy.
Dylan, who is the son of former Chicago Bulls star and five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, received a special shoutout from his brother, Ron Harper Jr., following the thrilling game. Ron Jr. shared a clip on his Instagram story of his brother's late-game heroics and the wild celebrations that followed. He also added a witty two-word comment to go with the video.
"Red State," Ron Jr. wrote.

Like Rutgers University, Seton Hall is also located in New Jersey, and the two campuses are separated by less than 30 miles. The school's proximity and heated rivalry made Harper's shot that much more special.
Dylan Harper finished the night with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting and converted four 3-pointers. Eighteen of his points came during a dominant second-half display. The talented guard also chipped in with two rebounds and two assists. Harper leads all freshmen in the nation in scoring. He is currently averaging 23.5 ppg.
Harper was one of the top recruits in his high school class coming out of Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey. There was plenty of interest from top programs around the nation, but the five-star recruit chose to remain in-state and develop his game with Rutgers.
Ron Harper Jr., Dylan's brother, also attended Rutgers and went on to sign a contract with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA.
Dylan Harper shares memorable clip of his brother Ron Harper Jr.'s game-winning buzzer beater
Saturday's memorable game-winning shot from Dylan Harper was a special moment for the program, and die-hard Rutgers fans would have felt a sense of déjà vu when they saw him drill the buzzer beater. That is because, not long ago, it was a different Harper who hit a similar shot for Rutgers.
Following the win over Seton Hall, Dylan posted a clip on his Instagram story of his buzzer-beater playing alongside his brother, Ron Harper Jr.'s incredible game-winning shot against the No. 1-ranked Purdue Boilermakers in December 2021.
Harper added the following message to go along with the video:
"Just a Harper thing."
During his playing days with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Bulls, Ron Harper had a knack for drilling clutch shots at critical stages of the game. That trait has seemingly now been passed on to his children, who are continuing in their father's footsteps.
