$9.14 B worth Warriors claim top spot beating out Knicks, Lakers as most valuable NBA franchise

Over the past decade, the Golden State Warriors have had arguably the most on-court success of any team in the NBA. In the midst of cementing a dynasty, the franchise has also climbed another notable list.

Every year, new figures come out ranking all 30 teams in terms of value. As expected, a couple of the historic franchises sit near the top of the list. However, Golden State has managed to eclipse them all.

In the newest value rankings, the Warriors find themselves as the most valuable franchise in the NBA at slightly over $9 billion. Rounding out the top three are the New York Knicks ($8.3 billion) and LA Lakers ($8.07 billion).

Not only is Golden State the most valuable franchise in the NBA, but it's one of the top across all the major sports. Only the Dallas Cowboys are worth more than them at $10.3 billion.

This marks the third year in a row that Golden State claims the top spot in this list. They also saw a sizable increase in value over the last 12 months, as the franchise was worth $8.28 billion in 2023.

There are many factors that can attributed to their high value. The primary ones being the revenue brought in through their dynasty years with Steph Curry and company and opening a brand-new arena in 2019.

Golden State Warriors ownership has seen massive success since taking over

Back in 2010, businessman Joe Lacob and his partners agreed to buy the Golden State Warriors at a price of $450 million. Since then, they've seen their investment skyrocket as the franchise rose to prominence in the NBA.

In the last five years alone, Golden State has seen its value nearly double. In 2020, the franchise was the second-most valuable team in the league at $5.21 billion. Now, they're on track to be the league's first $10 billion team.

Lacob and the Warriors have had great success in the past 14 years. Centered around Steph Curry, they've managed to deliver four championships to the franchise. It's been two years since Golden State has been to the mountaintop, and they continue to try and work their way back.

With Curry still playing at a high level, Golden State is doing everything they can to remain competitive. They've surrounded the two-time MVP with a lot of depth and now are big game hunting. As trade season kicks off in the NBA, multiple reports have surfaced regarding Golden State being in the hunt for a star player.

Now one of the most popular teams in the association, it will likely be some time before Golden State takes a dip in the NBA's franchise value rankings.
