$90M NBA star Kyrie Irving loses $1500 basketball bet on Kai Cenat's stream
Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving lost multiple $1500 basketball bets during Kai Cenat's livestream on Wednesday amid his ongoing Mafiathon Stream event. Irving, who has a net worth of $90 million per CelebrityNetWorth, bet $1500 each to the stram's participants that none of them could score with him guarding them. However, three of them made the shot to win the wager.
Kyrie Irving made an appearance on Kai Cenat's stream, keeping up with his word to do so when he sent a message to Cenat earlier this week. Irving made known his interest in going live with the popular Twitch streamer via a laudatory text, which Cenat read out loud during his stream.
“Keep being great and putting God first, brother. It’s amazing to see you uplift others on your platform with kindness. That’s what life is about—helping others and still having fun being you,” the message read. "If you have any openings where I can stop by and say what’s up, let me know.”
Kyrie Irving and Kai Cenat have become friends over the years, with Irving even stepping away from his Twitch account when it previously banned Cenat temporarily. The former NBA champ also reportedly gifted 2024 NBA Finals Game 1 tickets to Kai.
Kyrie Irving breaks silence on his flat Earth theory criticism during Kai Cenat's stream
During his appearance on Kai Cenat's stream on Wednesday, Kyrie Irving opened up about the criticism he received for speaking in support of flat Earth theory in 2017. After rarely discussing the matter since then, Irving opened up about the criticism he received when asked if he still thought that the Earth was flat.
"Do I still think the earth is flat? Nah, but I got into so much trouble for that," Irving said. "You gotta be careful with that, man."
The Dallas Mavericks star cited that the main reason he faced criticism was regarding his influence on kids. He further explained why sharing his flat-earth conspiracy was taken in a negative light and set the record straight on what he was trying to say.
"In history, it's been said before. People have said that the earth is flat. But at the end of the day, it's not about whether it's flat, it's questioning what is going on around you. The whole point behind was questioning what was going on. When they came down on me for that, what else was out there? I was labeled as a conspiracy theorist."
While he was quick to retreat his claims back then, Kyrie Irving's view had cost him many sponsorships and a lot of goodwill among fans.
