"AD back to his normal Paul George self" - NBA fans relentlessly roast Anthony Davis as he has poor outing against New York Knicks
LA Lakers superstar Anthony Davis received no mercy from fans after his performance in the 112-108 loss against the New York Knicks. Fans on Twitter, in particular, tore into Davis for his passive performance at a crucial point in the Lakers' season.
The Lakers came up short by a small margin against the Knicks on Sunday night. The game was an opportunity to improve to .500 for the first time this season, but the Lakers squandered that opportunity.
A lot of things went wrong for the Lakers. Although D'Angelo Russell had a tremendous individual performance, the Lakeshow, as a whole, struggled against New York. The Knicks star players shone, but the Lakers' didn't. One player that drew the ire of all Lakers fans was Anthony Davis.
Davis, who recently received a lot of praise for his monster performance against the Memphis Grizzlies, fell back into old habits. His passive approach to scoring and defense was only exacerbated by his nightmare night at the charity stripe.
His inconsistency has done significant harm to the Lakers yet again, and fans didn't hesitate to express the same. With fans sharing their thoughts on Davis' performance after the game, we took a look at some of their reactions on Twitter.
One posted:
"AD back to his normal Paul George self. He will NEVER be the number one guy"
Here are the other reactions:
Davis' lapse in intensity saw the LA Lakers fall to 33-35 on the season. With the opportunity to move up to seventh in the West slipping out of hand, the Purple and Gold will have to claw their way back up again.
Anthony Davis was a no-show against New York Knicks
The LA Lakers are already facing a massive shortage in the superstar department with LeBron James out of the rotation. However, Anthony Davis also appears to be a shell of a superstar in most games these days.
Questions and concerns about Davis' motor have been raised since the championship season. While he has battled injuries in every season since then, Davis has also displayed stretches of passive performances.
That comes as a disappointment considering that audiences are aware of what he is capable of. After watching the game against the Grizzlies and comparing it to Sunday night's performance, Davis looked like a shadow of himself.
The Lakers' big man ended the night with 17 points and 16 rebounds. However, these numbers lacked impact, as that he went 8-18 from the field and 1-5 from the FT line. The Lakers were primarily carried by D'Angelo Russell, who contributed 33 points, five rebounds and eight assists.
While Davis took accountability for his poor performance during the post-game interview, the Lakers will need him to show results for the same.
