First Half Recap: Lakers vs Nuggets Opening Night
It's ring night on opening night for the Denver Nuggets. The defending champions have a rematch against the new and supposedly improved LA Lakers. During the first few minutes of the game, the Lakers dominated the Nuggets thanks to Anthony Davis and a couple of three-point bombs from Taurean Prince. However, it didn't take too long until Denver fired back as Nikola Jokic came alive.
Jokic took care of business in the first half of opening night. He dropped 19 points trading baskets with Davis who carried the Lakers with 17 points. While the "Joker" did his best to establish a commanding first-half lead, LeBron James did everything in his power to keep the game within reach by supporting Davis on offense with 10 points.
Despite turning 39 in a few months, LeBron James is demonstrating once again that age doesn't matter to him. His ten points came from inside the paint, as he consistently bulldozed his way in. Few 38-year-olds have the fortitude and perseverance that "King" James possesses.
As for the outcome of the Lakers vs Nuggets matchup, it seems like it'll be a close fight as the first half ended in a nine-point Lakers deficit 63-54.
