Alex Caruso's fiancée Haleigh Broucher's 2-word reaction sums up Thunder guard's $81 million deal
OKC Thunder star Alex Caruso is considered one of the hardest workers in the NBA. The 30-year-old was rewarded for his efforts with a massive four-year, $81 million contract extension on Sunday.
Caruso was part of a trade that saw Josh Giddey go to Chicago this offseason. After just 19 games with the Thunder, the organization secured the hard-working guard to a long-term deal.
Caruso and his family would have been delighted with the new deal. His fiancée, Haleigh Broucher, expressed her excitement with a succinct two-word reaction on Instagram.
"Thunder Up," wrote Broucher.
Broucher was a former contestant on the popular television series, "Big Brother." She has been dating the NBA star for some time now and the two were officially engaged in August.
Alex Caruso averaged 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assist and 1.7 steals per game over the 2023-24 season, but it is hard to quantify his impact on this team with just numbers.
The OKC Thunder guard is capable of adding a spark and lifting up his teammates. He is regarded as one of the league's top defenders and plays the game with an energy and gusto that few can replicate.
The fact that Caruso went undrafted in 2016 after his college career with Texas A&M makes his latest contract that much more impressive. Caruso had to prove himself in the Summer League and NBA Development League before finally making his debut with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017.
After a successful stint in Southern California, he went on to play for the Chicago Bulls and Thunder, and is now in his eighth year in the league.
NBA superstar LeBron James congratulates Alex Caruso after exciting news of engagement
It has been an eventful year for Alex Caruso. Aside from his highly publicized trade from the Chicago Bulls to the OKC Thunder, the NBA star also announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Haleigh Broucher in August.
The news garnered plenty of attention on social media, with some of the NBA's biggest names, including LeBron James, sending their best wishes to the couple. After seeing the post from Caruso and Broucher on Instagram, 'King James' had the following response:
"Congratulations my brother!!!!!!!"
LeBron James and Caruso played together on the Los Angeles Lakers for three seasons, between 2018-2021. They were both members of the 2020 Lakers team that went on to win the championship, defeating the Miami Heat in six games.
