Amid Warriors' career troubles, Klay Thompson issues a classy response to shut down the trolls 'over 0/10 game' - Get proper sleep"
On Monday, one fan tried trolling Golden State Warriors forward Klay Thompson. But the former champion opted to take the high road.
On Monday morning, Thompson posted a series of his favorite things on Instagram. It featured him on a bike ride, golfing at sunset and playing with his dog.
In the comments, a fan pointed out a game where Klay Thompson went 0-for-10 shooting-wise. The Warriors guard responded to this remark but opted for positivity instead of pettiness.
"hey young fell, I'm rooting for you. Eat your greens and get proper sleep nightly and you will make the NBA one day thri hard work and perseverance," Thompson wrote to the fan.
Thompson, was a key topic of discussion this season for the Warriors. His offensive struggles got so bad at one point that Steve Kerr was forced to move him to the bench.
Thompson has put together a solid season only a few years removed from a pair of injuries. He appeared in 77 games and averaged just under 18 points per game. Most players would consider shooting 38.7% from deep a success, but it marked the second-lowest mark of Thompson's career.
Klay Thompson wipes social media ahead of free agency
Even though Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors discussed a possible contract extension, the two sides never agreed. Per rumors, the former All-Star guard could hit the open market this summer.
Thompson's internet activity suggests his time in Golden State might be over. He has unfollowed the Warriors on Instagram and removed every post he had involving the team.
If Thompson does sign elsewhere this offseason, it will truly make the end of a dynasty. Alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green, he helped build up the Warriors to win four championships. Many fans and analysts expected the trio to ride off in the sunset together, but that might not happen.
Over the past few weeks, the Orlando Magic are one of the main teams connected to Thompson in rumors. Aside from the Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons, they have open cap space to spend in free agency. Fresh off a playoff experience with two promising young talents, Orlando might want to recruit Thompson to help get them over the hump.
