Anna Horford spotlights brother Al Horford joining LeBron James & Mavs legend in historic feat

Veteran center Al Horford has joined a rare milestone club after he hit his 900th 3-pointer in the Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons contest on Wednesday. With 900 made 3s under his belt, Horford has become the third player in NBA history with 8000 rebounds, 1000 blocks and 900 3-pointers made. The other two are LeBron James and Dirk Nowitzki.

Horford's sister, Anna, has proudly hyped up his achievement on her Instagram account. She shared a screenshot of Celtics insider Taylor Snow pointing out the center's accomplishments on X (formerly Twitter) on her Instagram Stories.

Al Horford only made 195 3-pointers in the first 10 years of his career

Al Horford was not known as a 3-point shooter early in his career. In fact, during his rookie and sophomore seasons in 2007-08 and 2008-09, he attempted six and made none.

The first time Horford made a bucket from behind the arc was during his third season on Nov. 16, 2009 against the Portland Trail Blazers. That ended up being the only shot from downtown he attempted in that season. In 2010-11, he attempted four and made two 3s to bring his total up to three 3-pointers made in his first four seasons.

In 2011-12, his fifth season in the league, he once again went an entire year without a 3-pointer after only one attempt. His trend of barely attempting shots from downtown would continue into 2012-13 and 2013-14. In those two seasons, he went for a combined 7-for-17.

The first time he made double-figure 3s in a season wouldn't come until his eighth year in the league in 2014-15. That year, he made 11 3s on 36 attempts.

After eight years of barely taking shots from downtown, he suddenly ramped up his 3-point shooting significantly. In 2015-16, his attempts shot up into the triple digits, attempting 256 and making 88. He followed that up in year 10 (2016-17) with 84 makes on 242 attempts. In those first 10 seasons, he went 195-for-563 from beyond the arc.

While 637 of his makes came with the Boston Celtics, 109 were with the Atlanta Hawks. He also made 99 in his one season with the Philadelphia 76ers and 56 in one year with the OKC Thunder.
