Anthony Davis fires warning to rest of the league after JJ Redick-era Lakers start season 3-0

Anthony Davis is feeling a little confident after the LA Lakers improved to 3-0 to start the 2024-25 NBA season under coach JJ Redick. Davis was instrumental in the Lakers' 131-127 win over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Davis was asked about his thoughts on the Lakers' impressive start to the campaign. The one-time NBA champ knows that they still have a lot of things to improve on, but is confident enough to send a warning to the rest of the league.

"I like where our team is," Davis said. "Obviously, there's a lot that we can clean up on both ends of the floor, but we'll definitely take the wins. I'd rather be able to clean up things with the win over a loss. It's been a tough three games, obviously, with three premier teams in the West."

The Lakers star added:

"We've been able to hold our own and put the league on notice that we're a different team. We're gonna come out and compete every night whether we're up 20 or down 20, we're going to continue to fight. We've been able to be on the winning side of things in the first three games."

Anthony Davis has been fantastic for the LA Lakers in the first three games of the season. Davis is averaging 34.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.3 blocks. He's shooting 57.1% from the field, including 40.0% from beyond the arc, and 80.0% from the free-throw line.

Davis had 31 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks in the Lakers' win over the Sacramento Kings. He shot 10-for-15 from the field and was 10-for-13 from the charity stripe. He also made one 3-point shot in just two attempts on Saturday night.

After eight seasons and 11 games, Anthony Davis finally has a win over Domantas Sabonis in his career. Davis was 0-10 against Sabonis heading into Saturday's game against the Sacramento Kings. Things were bleak after the third quarter before Davis and LeBron James led the LA Lakers to the win.

"He is a helluva player. All-Star, and there's a whole Netflix show about him," Davis said after the game, according to Basket News. "He's one of the premier bigs in this league. I just tried to be aggressive, and we got a team win tonight."

Davis' losing streak against Sabonis began on Dec. 4, 2016, when the Lithuanian big man was still with OKC Thunder and AD was a New Orleans Pelican. Davis lost to Sabonis five times with the Pelicans and five times with the Lakers.
