Anthony Davis joins Kobe Bryant and 2 other Lakers legends in exclusive franchise record club
LA Lakers star Anthony Davis is on a roll with three straight 30+ point games to kick off the 2024-25 NBA season. With that, Davis joined Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor and Jerry West in an exclusive club as the only Lakers to start a season with three consecutive 30-point performances.
The nine-time NBA All-Star's feat also made a huge impression on Lakers legend Magic Johnson, who gave AD an early MVP stamp following the Lakers' 131-127 win against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. Johnson posted on X, formerly called Twitter:
“My Dodgers and Lakers gave me another great night with their two victories! LeBron James put on a show tonight finishing with a triple double – 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists with 16 points in the fourth quarter alone! And AD continued his MVP start to the season with his 31 point performance in the Lakers win over the Kings!”
Anthony Davis has been highly efficient for the Lakers on both ends of the floor in the last three games as they started their 2024-25 campaign with three straight victories against strong Western Conference teams.
The 6-foot-10 forward is averaging 34.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.7 steals, shooting 57.1% from the field, including 40.0% from beyond the arc.
Anthony Davis puts the league on notice after Lakers' 3-0 season start
During a post-game interview after the LA Lakers' third straight victory on Saturday, Anthony Davis expressed confidence in the squad under new coach JJ Reddick.
The former NBA champion shared his thoughts on the team's impressive start to the season as he put the league on notice.
"I like where our team is," Anthony Davis said. "Obviously, there's a lot that we can clean up on both ends of the floor, but we'll definitely take the wins. I'd rather be able to clean up things with the win over a loss. It's been a tough three games, obviously, with three premier teams in the West.
"We've been able to hold our own and put the league on notice that we're a different team. We're gonna come out and compete every night whether we're up 20 or down 20, we're going to continue to fight. We've been able to be on the winning side of things in the first three games."
The LA Lakers' 3-0 start to the 2024-25 season is their best since the 2010-11 season when they won eight straight games to kick off their campaign. They will look to keep up their streak when they take on the Phoenix Suns on Monday.
