Anthony Davis makes Twitter comeback after 2 years with three-word reaction on LeBron James' flurry vs KingsĀ
Anthony Davis made his comeback on Twitter for the first time since June 2022 on Saturday after the Lakers beat the Kings 131-127 behind LeBron James' fourth-quarter explosion. James scored 16 points in the first three minutes to turn the game around, inspiring a 21-0 Lakers run to erase a seven-point deficit and take a 14-point lead.
The Lakers have gotten off to a 3-0 start after 14 years, while they also snapped a five-game losing streak against the Kings. Davis seems to have used the opportunity to finally return on Twitter as he reacted to LeBron's clutch flurry in three words.
"Real life ooter!!!!!" Davis wrote while replying to D'Angelo Russell's tweet.
The man of the hour, LeBron James also replied to Anthony Davis on that tweet.
"OOTER!!!!!!!!!"
Davis hasn't been as active on social media since February 2023. He deactivated his Instagram then. Before that, he was missing from X (formerly Twitter) since August 2022, when he retweeted Arkansas coach John Calipari's post thanking him for providing to Kentucky's tornado victims.
Anthony Davis deleted his Instagram after a crushing loss to the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2022-23, which the Lakers desperately needed to win amid an underwhelming season.
The mood seems to have shifted in LA's camp for the first time in three years in the LeBron-AD era after their terrific start to the season, prompting Davis' Twitter return.
Anthony Davis hails LeBron James' dominance against Father Time
LeBron James had a slow start in his first two games. He scored 16 points against the Timberwolves on opening night and 21 against the Suns on Friday. James seemed exhausted in both games during various stretches because of JJ Redick's demanding defensive schemes.
It seemed like James' had slowed down a tad more than expected. However, he proved his doubters wrong yet again after his 32-point triple-double and fourth-quarter flurry in win vs. the Kings.
Anthony Davis was also just as surprised as anyone.
"Just when you think he's slowing down, man, he continues to show the world why he's the greatest," Davis said after the game.
The Lakers needed that from James, especially against the versatile Kings, who had LA's number. Sacramento received high-volume contributions from their top three players, De'Aaron Fox, Domatas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan, who all scored 20+ points.
The Lakers will be glad to see that LeBron James still has the gear when they need him in certain games against quality opponents. That will be critical to their regular season success and ceiling.
