Anthony Davis secretly wishes a tribute video from his former team after Spurs dedicate a tribute video to his teammate: "I wish I had one of those"
Loonie Walker IV received a tribute during his first game back in San Antonio, and Anthony Davis wishes he had one of those. The former NBA champ joked about it during his on-court post-game presser.
Davis spent seven years with the New Orleans Pelicans before he was recruited by LeBron James and the LA Lakers. However, his return in 2019 was not met with the same ovation Walker received.
Walker jumped off to a great start in that game, finishing the first half with a game-high 15 points. Nonetheless, Davis was the star of the show, finishing with a game-high 25 points and 15 rebounds.
As Davis walked off the court, he was asked how impactful Walker has been for the Lakers. The three-time block champion spoke about how "Skywalker" has been a great addition on both ends of the floor and said he wishes he got such a tribute.
"He been unbelievable for us on both ends of the floor, came out hot. Obviously, first time back at home. Probably a little emotion for him gave him a tribute. Wish I had one of those.
After a light chuckle at the joke, he continued:
"It's good to always play back in your old team city, and play well, and he played well, and get a win. It's good that he played well tonight. It's good that they gave him a tribute and celebrated him tonight. He's been great for us all season."
Walker is the third-highest scorer for the Lakers behind Davis and James. His athleticism has been a great boost for the Lakers on both ends of the floor.
Anthony Davis missed the Lakers' last game
For the last two years, fans have been distraught by how frail Davis was. He missed extended periods in the last two seasons, which was one of the reasons the Lakers had poor campaigns.
Although Davis has been pretty solid this season, he is currently on the injury list. He was sidelined during the Lakers' consecutive victory against the Spurs, and there is no timeline for his return.
However, there might not be a big reason to worry as he is listed as "Day to Day." Head coach Darvin Ham likely opted to give him a break after he carried the team in the absence of James.
The Lakers will square off against the Indiana Pacers next, and AD might be available. His presence will be a big boost for the Lakers as they seek to defeat the exciting young team. A win for the Lakers is a must as they hope to maintain their hot streak.
No Anthony Davis, no problem
Davis has done the heavy lifting for the Lakers in James' absence. NBA pundits have called on AD to continue in the same fashion despite LBJ's return.

However, James opted to reintroduce himself with a dominating performance back-to-back against the Spurs. With Anthony Davis on the sidelines, James led the Lakers to a victory with 39 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.
Perhaps more intriguing was how hot he got from beyond the arc. James, who has struggled shooting the ball for the better of the season, knocked down seven three-pointers in 12 attempts.
James is 1017 points away from becoming the all-time leading scorer. If he stays healthy and averages 25 points in the next 41 games, he will set a new record.
