Anthony Davis sends message to LeBron James’ luxury tequila after backhanded compliment

On Sunday, Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis talked about LeBron James' luxury tequila brand, Lobos 1707, which came off as a backhanded compliment. It came after Davis' teammate, Spencer Dinwiddie, suggested that another tequila brand was superior to James'.

Sharing an image of Komos tequila on his Instagram story, Dinwiddie tagged Davis.

"Better than Lobos @antdavis22," Dinwiddie wrote.

The story was reposted by Davis, who tagged James' liquor brand, along with a short message.

"Don't worry, my brotha, we'll build a bigger table for you @lobos1707," Davis wrote.

Davis spent seven seasons with the LA Lakers before he became part of one of the most shocking trades in NBA history. During his time with the Lakers, he and James built a strong chemistry, and won an NBA title in 2020.

Davis' compliment for Lobos was not a complete surprise as he's reportedly an investor. Lobos 1707, founded in 2020, is a direct competitor of Komos, and target the same audience. Komos was established in 2017, drawing inspiration from European winemaking techniques.

Anthony Davis expresses his appreciation for the Mavericks after failing to qualify for the playoffs

Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis opened up about his time with the team after their elimination in the play-in tournament. They were eliminated by the Memphis Grizzlies and missed out on the playoffs after reaching the NBA finals last season.

Despite their exit, Davis reflected on his three months at Dallas after the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers, and expressed his appreciation for the franchise and its fans.

"I'm just very appreciative that I get to play the game of basketball," Davis said on April 20, via Sportskeeda's Grant Afseth. "Appreciative to Dallas, and the fan base, and my teammates have accepted me and welcomed me with open arms, given the situation. ... The injury happened, and I tried to do everything I could to get back on the floor to finish the season and try to carry us into the playoffs. I'm just appreciative."

Davis and his teammates will look to recover and rest up for next season, as an exciting few months await them. The Mavericks won the No. 1 pick in the draft and are expected to select Duke foward Cooper Flagg.
