Anthony Edwards challenges Team USA Table Tennis stars to prove he would score 'at least one point'

Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star guard Anthony Edwards is not one to shy away from a challenge, even in a sport which is not necessarily his strongest suit, like table tennis.

Team USA on Friday uploaded a video on its official X page of Edwards and teammate Steph Curry talking to members of the U.S. women's table tennis team ahead of the opening ceremonies of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

The table tennis stars said if they played a game against the Timberwolves star, they were sure to shut him out, to which Anthony Edwards raseid a howl, asserting that he was confident he could score at least one point against them.

'Ant-Man' said:

"I got some people here that say they gonna beat me in ping-pong, 21-0. I don't believe it, I don't believe it. I'm not having it. I'm not having it. Eleven to zero, I'm scoring one point ... How can we do that? Whenever [I'm ready]."

As he awaits the opportunity to play members of the U.S. table tennis team, Anthony Edwards will be focusing first on his duties with USA Basketball as they try to claim their fifth straight Olympic gold medal in Paris.

The former top overall NBA pick (2020) is one of 12 NBA stars selected to represent the United States in the Summer Games. They begin their campaign in Group C of the tournament alongside Serbia, South Sudan and Puerto Rico.

Apart from Edwards and Golden State's Curry, also part of the U.S. squad are LeBron James and Anthony Davis (LA Lakers), Kevin Durant and Devin Booker (Phoenix), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia), Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White (Boston), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana) and Bam Adebayo (Miami).

Anthony Edwards hilariously says he can beat Team USA teammates in swimming

Just as he goes into battle with Team USA in the Olympic Games, Anthony Edwards is having fun with his teammates, who he occasionally also makes fun of. One of those moments came early in their preparation when he hilariously said he could beat all of them in swimming.

In an interview with the Today Show, he told Craig Melvin that apart from basketball, he would also catch the swimming action in the Paris Games. Asked if he was the fastest swimmer in the team, he said hands down he was while roasting his teammates.

Anthony Edwards hilariously said:

"They ain't no swimmers. You got Joel big Embiid, you got AD (Anthony Davis) and Bam [Adebayo]. They ain't swimming fast. Bron (LeBron James), he ain't swimming fast. KD (Kevin Durant), Kawhi [Leonard], [Jayson] Tatum, they're not swimming fast at all.
"So my only challenges are Book (Devon Booker), when he might not know how to swim. Jrue [Holiday], he might drown, And [Tyrese] Haliburton, oh my God. If Haliburton beat me then I just need to never touch the water again."
