Anthony Edwards reacts in 2 words to Karl-Anthony Towns' shout to former Timberwolves' teammate ahead of Knicks game

They may no longer be teammates, but Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards have maintained their friendship. The Minnesota Timberwolves and the New York Knicks are set to face each other on Thursday, pitting the two former teammates against each other.

Ahead of the matchup, Towns gave a shoutout to Edwards on Instagram. He did so by posting a throwback clip of them to last year's All-Star Game on his Instagram Stories. Towns also included the phrase "My Brudda" to sum up what he thought of Edwards.

As a response, Edwards reposted the clip to his own IG Stories with his own caption.

"Yea Thur," Edwards said followed by a lock and a blue heart emoji.

Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns played together for the Timberwolves for five years. However, they were split up when the New York Knicks traded for Towns in September.

The deal sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to the Wolves. In the process, it also broke up the highly anticipated "Nova Knicks," which featured former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges and DiVincenzo.

The New York Knicks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves contest marks Towns' first regular season game back in Minnesota wearing a different jersey.

Since the Timberwolves and the Knicks play in different conferences, they only face each other twice in the regular season. After tonight's game, their next meeting will be on Jan. 17 in Madison Square Garden.

Anthony Edwards shined in Timberwolves' preseason game against Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks

While Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns have yet to face each other in a regular season game, they have battled in the preseason. On Oct. 13, The Knicks and the Wolves battled in an exhibition game.

Despite it not having an actual bearing on the standings, Edwards showed out and outscored every other player on the court. The Wolves star poured in 31 points on an 11-for-19 shooting clip, including 8-for-13 from behind the 3-point line.

Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns recorded a double-double against his former team. He dropped 16 points and grabbed an equal number of rebounds. His contributions helped the Knicks defeat the Wolves by five points (115-110) despite the 30-point explosion from Edwards.

It wasn't just Towns who played well against his former team. Donte DiVincenzo, who was included in the trade, was one of three Timberwolves players to score in double figures.

He scored 15 points on a 6-for-11 shooting clip while also dishing seven assists. Julius Randle did not suit up in that game and tonight's contest will be his first one against the Knicks since being traded.
