Anthony Edwards has two-word response for Chad Ochochino's ‘on court’ challenge

Over the weekend, Anthony Edwards was extended a challenge by a former professional athlete. After the gauntlet was thrown down at his feet, the Minnesota Timberwolves star gave a simple response to let the world know he is never one to back down.

With about a month to go until the start of training camp, Edwards has begun his ramp-up for the 2024-25 season. It's been a jam-packed summer for the former No. 1 pick, going deep into the playoffs and then competing in the Olympics with Team USA.

On Sunday, Anthony Edwards posted a series of photos on X (formerly Twitter) from a recent workout session. Former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco responded, saying he could give him some "real work" on the court.

This post sparked a two-word response from the Timberwolves shooting guard, as he let Ochocino know he's ready to go whenever.

"Sayless 😂," Edwards wrote.

"Ant" is gearing up for what will be his fifth season in the NBA. 2024 was a good year for him, as he fully emerged as a superstar talent in the league. Edwards averaged 25.9 points and 5.1 assists along with leading the Wolves to the Western Conference finals.

Still only 23, Edwards has cemented himself as one of the top stars of his generation. He's already a multi-time All-Star, made All-NBA last season and added an Olympic gold medal to his resume this summer.

Anthony Edwards receives special honor from Team USA teammate

As mentioned previously, Anthony Edwards was among the numerous NBA stars chosen to compete for Team USA at the Paris Games. Last week, one of his teammates explained one area that he excelled in among the rest of his peers.

After making an appearance at a new Raising Canes location in Boston, Celtics guard Jrue Holiday answered a few questions from the media. Among the things he was asked was who was the biggest trash talker on Team USA. The two-time NBA champion didn't have to think long before choosing Edwards.

"Anthony Edwards, 100%," Holiday said. "He's a great young player and you'll see him trash talking for a very long time."

Despite being in the early stages of his career, confidence is not an area Edwards lacks in. His trash-talking was on full display this past postseason.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Minnesota Timberwolves matched up against the Phoenix Suns. After catching fire in the third quarter of Game 1, Edwards was seen trash-talking Kevin Durant when he hit a 3 over him.

Edwards managed to back up all his talk in that series, as the Timberwolves went on to win via a sweep. The young guard played at a high level against his childhood hero, averaging 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists on 51.2% shooting.
