Atlanta Hawks vs Dallas Mavericks Game Summary

The Atlanta Hawks opened their first April road game with a showdown against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. After losing 129-119 against the Mavericks at home in late November, the Hawks looked to tie the season series with a victory. Atlanta entered the game without key players, an issue shared by the home team.

Trae Young and Dyson Daniels had Atlanta humming in the opening 12 minutes. The backcourt duo combined for nine points, six assists and five rebounds. Mouhamed Gueye led the Hawks with seven points and two rebounds. Atlanta edged Dallas 34-32 after one quarter.

Anthony Davis dropped 14 points in the first quarter to carry the Hawks. Dallas' bench stepped up early, delivering 10 points and three rebounds to help "AD".

After Davis' dominant first-quarter performance, Trae Young responded by making 5-for-6 shots. He finished the period with 16 points and four assists to give the Hawks a little more breathing space after the second quarter. Atlanta ended the first half with a 72-67 lead.

Dallas got hot from deep in the third quarter, making 4-for-5 3-pointers for its best stretch on offense in the game. Anthony Davis had 13 points in the period to give the Mavs a dominant period.

The Hawks refused to quit and pushed the Mavs to the final buzzer. Atlanta led 118-115 with 1:46 remaining before Dallas sprinted to the finish line. Klay Thompson nailed a 3-pointer that was followed by a Davis floater. Trae Young missed a 26-footer to allow the Mavs a pulsating win at home.
