Austin Reaves drops 2-word reaction after Max Christie commends his between-the-legs highlight assist
LA Lakers guard Austin Reaves responded candidly after teammate Max Christie praised his highlight-reel assist during the team's 118-114 preseason loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. Christie shared a video of Reaves' slick between-the-legs pass that led to an easy transition dunk for the former.
The play happened with 4:01 left in the first quarter. The Lakers found themselves in a two-on-one fast break, with Austin Reaves leading the charge. As a Suns defender closed in to block his path to an easy layup, Reaves delivered a dazzling between-the-legs pass to Christie, who was running alongside him.
Christie caught the pass in stride and finished the play with a two-handed dunk, capping off the highlight-worthy moment.
After the game, Christie shared the video of the play on his Instagram stories and wrote "Great pass" while tagging Reaves. The Lakers guard acknowledged the compliment from his teammate and dropped a two-word reaction.

Austin Reaves and Max Christie both have rough shooting nights in loss
In terms of their overall performance against the Phoenix Suns, both Austin Reaves and Max Christie struggled to shoot the ball. Reaves 2-of-10 from the field and failed to make any of his seven attempts from beyond the arc. He finished the game with nine points.
The 26-year-old was excellent in creating offense for his teammates as he finished the game with seven assists after playing 29 minutes. Reaves also recorded six rebounds and two steals in the game.
On the other hand, Christie shot a poor 3-of-14 from the field, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range. He finished the game with 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and a steal.
During the Lakers' first preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Reaves also struggled for efficiency. In the absence of superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Reaves jointly led the team in scoring with 16 points and also recorded five rebounds, seven assists and three steals. He shot 2-of-9 from the floor, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Christie was excellent against the Timberwolves as he gave a terrific account of skillset and athleticism on both ends of the floor. The 21-year-old scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field while he also recorded seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks.
Reaves and Christie will next be in action when the Lakers square off against the Milwaukee Bucks in their third preseason game on Thursday.
