Bam Adebayo hilariously mocks France with Chris Tucker's 'Rush Hour 3' taxi scene reference
Bam Adebayo played a vital role in Team USA's memorable run to a fifth consecutive gold medal on August 10. The USA star and his teammates were on cloud nine after defeating France in the finals of the Olympic Games, with several players taking to social media to celebrate the special moment. While some showed off their medals and thanked their teammates, Adebayo took a different approach.
After the victory in the finals, the Miami Heat star mocked the French team with a hilarious scene from Rush Hour 3. In the short clip, Chris Tucker, who plays the role of Detective Carter, can be seen grilling a French driver at gunpoint. Tucker forces the driver to say he loves America and makes him sing the Star-Spangled Banner.
Adebayo is known for his outgoing nature and decided to have some fun at the France team's expense on this occasion.
This was Bam Adebayo's second gold medal. He was a member of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics team that took home the gold after defeating France in the finals. The 27-year-old's recent X post made it a point to remind the French team of the back-to-back Olympic final wins as he included two emojis of gold medals.
The post also shared an image of Adebayo hugging his current NBA coach, Erik Spoelstra, who was an assistant coach for the USA at the Olympic Games.
Bam Adebayo's defensive abilities made him a key figure for the United States at the Paris Olympics
With Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis, both selected to the Team USA national team, there were doubts about how Bam Adebayo would fit into this roster. However, the defensively sound forward/center has been a key figure in Steve Kerr's rotation.
Adebayo featured in all six of Team USA's games and averaged over 16 minutes per outing. He averaged 6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.8 steals per game.
Perhaps more important than his offensive output, was his presence on the defensive front. At 6-foot-9 and 255 pounds, Adebayo is an imposing figure in the paint. He was tasked with guarding some of the most talented big men in the game at the tournament and was extremely efficient when called upon.
Last season, Adebayo finished third in the NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting behind Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama.
