"Beat Canada, bring back the gold" - Vice President Kamala Harris shares special message for USA players during Training Camp visit
United States Vice President Kamala Harris visited Team USA on Tuesday during their training camp in Las Vegas. Harris sent a special message to the players trying to win the gold medal for the fifth straight Olympics while also taking a shot at Canada.
In a video shared by USA Basketball on Instagram, Harris spoke to the players and joked about beating Canada to win the gold. She also delivered an inspiring message on representing the country and making every American proud via their success on the biggest stage.
"Team USA, I just want to come by and say beat Canada, bring back the gold. But truly, you all represent the best of the best and being Team USA, it is about representing our nation. You are, as you are every day on and off the court, ambassadors for who we are as a country. You represent leaders in every walk of life and for you to go to Paris and bring back that gold is just another example of your excellence, your teamwork, your compassion and your commitment," Harris said.
Vice President Kamala Harris also told players that everyone will be cheering them when they face tough competition in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Harris even spoke to several players such as LeBron James before posing for some photos that were shared on social media.
Team USA head coach Steve Kerr was happy with Harris' visit because it was a great reminder to the players of what they're trying to accomplish.
"It's a great reminder of the fact that we’re playing for our country. Vice President Harris told the guys how much she admired them, how much they really embody excellence and that we are going over there to try to win a gold medal for our country," Kerr said. [H/T Associated Press]
