"Beat France in France": Draymond Green sends out strong warning to Victor Wembanyama & Co. as Team USA pulls off great escape
Draymond Green sent a strong message to France after Team USA escaped a hard-fought game against Serbia in the semis of the Paris Olympic basketball tournament. Following a problematic first half, Team USA woke up and never gave up when chasing the European giants.
Their efforts paid off, and they won 95-91 against the 2023 FIBA World Cup runners-up after entering the fourth quarter down 13 points. Following this game, Green shared his thoughts on the gold medal game on X (formerly known as Twitter).
"Beat France in France! See you there @NBCOlympics," the Golden State Warriors star wrote.
While Team USA had an easy path to the semifinals, France had to fight hard to make it to the final game. Even though the Americans look like favorites to win the gold this year, the host team has improved its level throughout the competition and has the home crowd behind them.
France took revenge on Germany in the semifinal matchup today, beating them 73-69 after the Germans defeated them in the group phase 85-71.
Draymond Green paid respect to Team USA stars
Team USA had two clear leaders today, scoring-wise. Steph Curry dropped 36 points in 33 minutes, shooting 63.2% from the field and 64.3% from deep, adding eight rebounds and two assists in his best game in the competition.
Joel Embiid contributed 19 points (72.7% from the field and 66.3% from beyond the arc), four rebounds and two assists.
Draymond Green took the chance to congratulate the entire team, using a combination of nicknames and emojis to show respect to five stars. He lauded Steph Curry, LeBron James, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid as the game was ending.
Draymond Green defeated France in the 2020 Olympics
Draymond Green already knows what it feels like to beat France and win the Olympic gold medal. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Warriors star played 16 minutes in the final game, although he didn't score a single point.
Green grabbed two rebounds and three assists in the 87-82 win for Team USA. This game was the revenge for the Americans after losing to France in the first game of the group phase. Now, the team is different, but they are hungry to win and assert Team USA dominance in international basketball again.
