"Been waiting for a 2nd chance" - Guerschon Yabusele eyes NBA return after epic display in Olympic final for France

Guerschon Yabusele has been a phenomenal star for the French men's national basketball team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was one of the team's most important players of the tournament as he was named part of the All-Second Team. Yabusele's performance this year got the attention that he wanted as he's looking forward to having another shot at an NBA run.

The French forward played for the Boston Celtics for two seasons, from 2017-2019. While some dedicated Celtics fans may recognize Yabusele, others have no clue who he is. In his two seasons in Boston, he only played 74 games and averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds.

But after his international outing for France this year, he's confident that he could get another chance to play in the NBA. Yabusele posted on X (formerly Twitter) how he's ready for a second chance in the league.

"Been waiting for a 2nd chance.. I’m ready 😤🧸, " Yabusele said on X.

For France, he averaged 14 points and 3.3 rebounds. The forward also shot 51.9% from the field.

Before their gold medal game against Team USA, Yabusele showed his confidence. In an interview with Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, the forward expressed his desire to rejoin the Celtics and resume his NBA career.

"You gotta tell (the Celtics) to bring me back," Washburn posted.

Guerschon Yabusele's French teammate hypes fans with their desire to play in the league

Guerschon Yabusele isn't the only player in the French basketball team to share how he wants to play in the league. On X, Mathias Lessort posted that he's a free agent, along with Yabusele and Isaïa Cordinier.

"I heard me you and @izaycordinier free agent next year… 👀," Lessort posted.

Lessort was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017 with the 50th pick. However, his draft rights were traded in 2019 to the LA Clippers. It was traded again to the Minnesota Timberwolves in January 2020. Later in the year, his draft rights were traded for a final time to the New York Knicks.

Cordinier also had the same case as his French teammate. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2016 with their 44th pick. Unlike Lessort, he had the chance to play in the team's Summer League. His draft rights were traded to the Brooklyn Nets for Jeremy Lin in 2018.

However, the team renounced his draft rights in 2021, which made him an unrestricted free agent.

With the number of French players in the league, Guerschon Yabusele, Lessort and Cordinier could get another shot in the NBA.
