Bill Burr lightly roasts Shaquille O'Neal on latest SNL appearance: "I thought Shaq lost his credibility when he sold a Buick"
Comedian Bill Burr lightly roasted NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal during his brief appearance on "Saturday Night Live." Burr had the responsibility of opening the show, and he delivered a great performance. The comedian started with election-themed jokes and ended his monologue with a light Shaq roast.
A fan clipped Burr's entire opening monologue and uploaded it on X, formerly Twitter. The monologue is seven minutes long, and at 5:45, the comedian starts his joke featuring the NBA great. He told the audience that he saw Shaquille O'Neal in his dream, and the former Lakers star was selling him printer ink.
The comedian completed his joke and roasted Shaq for his salesperson skills and for endorsing a Buick in the past.
"Dude, is there no end to that guy's credibility? I thought when he was selling Buicks that was the end of it!" Burr said.
The comedian then made fun of Shaquille O'Neal's commercial for Buick. He impersonated Shaq's voice and enacted scenes and dialogues from the commercial on the stage. The Shaq-Buick commercial came out over a decade ago.
In the commercial, the NBA legend talks to the camera while walking out of a house. He tries to sell the car to the audience by listing its spaciousness as its USP. However, the 7-foot-1 celebrity is visibly barely fitting in the car in the commercial.
Shaquille O'Neal gives his opinion on decreased NBA viewership: "We are looking at the same thing"
On the latest episode of "The Big Podcast," Shaquille O'Neal was asked for his opinion on the decreasing viewership in the league. The four-time NBA champion presented his theory that blamed the 3-point shot and every team adapting their strategies to shoot more 3s.
"I have a theory that it is down because we are looking at the same thing. Everybody's running in the same place with the top of the key dribble handoff," Shaq said.
Furthermore, the LA Lakers legend revealed that he had a conversation with a coach who expressed his desire to shoot more 3s in a game.
"I was talking to a coach yesterday, he said they want to shoot 50 3s because you know they were trying to contemplate if I could play in this era," Shaq said.
Shaq ended his speech and blamed Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. He said that they messed up and he didn't mind the Warriors shooting 3s in the past, but everyone now had a 3-point shooter and were following the same strategy. The former Miami Heat center highlighted that the viewership would continue to plummet if teams did not switch up their strategies.
