Bill Russell's daughter Karen calls for support for VP Kamala Harris on the occasion of 11x champion's death anniversary
On the second anniversary of his death, Bill Russell's daughter, Karen Russell, is keeping her father's legacy going. She made a series of posts on social media documenting his impact on the world outside of basketball.
To this day, Russell is viewed as one of the most successful NBA players ever. He had a dominant run in the 1960s, winning 11 championships with the Boston Celtics. Along with his work on the court, Russell was also very passionate about civil rights.
In her post on X (formerly Twitter), Russell's daughter cited multiple occasions where her father stood up for social justice. She also mentioned that she plans on meeting with the campaign team of presidential candidate and current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.
Karen Russell also stated that she was with Vice President Harris not too long ago, and the two discussed topics of basketball and politics.
Karen has taken after her father in standing up for social justice. She is an attorney and a public speaker. Seeing that she's getting ready to meet with Harris' team, she might end up aiding her in her possible presidential campaign later this year.
As for Bill Russell, the NBA Hall of Famer passed away in the summer of 2022 at the age of 88.

This is not the first time Bill Russell's daughter has posted about Vice President Kamala Harris on social media. Earlier this week, she stated she wished the NBA legend was still alive to see her possibly run for President.

Karen Russell has not been shy about who she plans on voting for in the upcoming presidential election. Along with making numerous posts about Harris, she's responded to comments made by former President Donald Trump.
A clip from one of Trump's rallies has gone viral on social media. In the snippet, he talks about hiring successful racecar drivers and football coaches to work in the United States military.
After seeing this clip, Bill Russell's daughter once again made a post expressing her support for Vice President Harris.
Harris is a career politician, and was first elected attorney general of California in 2010. From there, she was elected to the United States Senate in 2017. In 2020, Harris was selected by President Joe Biden to be his running mate, and she has been serving as vice president since 2021.
